About the Alhambra Palace:

The Alhambra in Granada is a palatine city built by the last great Muslim dynasty that ruled the Iberian Peninsula. Muhammad I, a native of Arjona (Jaén), ended up founding the Nasrid dynasty. After initial years of war, pacts, and political changes, he would eventually establish the capital of the kingdom in Granada. Like other previous civilizations that settled in these territories, the Nasrids sought a privileged location from which to rule their kingdom. A dignified royal city from which to govern. The entire regions of Málaga and Almería would make up most of the Nasrid domains.

At that point, construction of the Alhambra began in 1238, rebuilding an ancient fortress on the Sabica mountain, a strategic location in Granada between two rivers. Once the Alcazaba, the fortress that would protect the city, was completed, the defensive perimeter consisted of its towers and walls.
For more than 250 years, this place has transformed into a unique site in the world, where scholars and artists developed a singular culture, a catalyst for the Muslim past that drew on Christian and Jewish cultures.

We did a tour of the refugios with Emilio and his team and it was amazing! They are knowledgeable, friendly, adaptable, and fully bilingual. In addition to giving insights and historical context, he connected it with the city’s present architecture and imbued a difficult topic of war with uplifting themes. Definitely a one of a kind experience and the best way to discover Almería’s landmarks. Don’t miss out on this amazing tour company!

I’ve been in contact with Raizes Turismo Personal through two touristic excursions. The first one was to Cabo de Gata with a team of professors. And the second one was a visit to Almeria city with friends from different countries. In the both experiences, the guide was the same (Emilio), but his way of telling things was totally different. I found him creative and knows how to manage each situation.
For me, what distinguishes them from others, besides being professionals and conveying their passion, is the fact of taking into consideration the background of each client.
