Paddling in Crystal-Clear Waters
Experience kayaking in Almería—an adventure that brings you into direct contact with wild nature, with just the right touch of excitement. Our kayak trips are accessible for everyone, including kids and families, and let you explore the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park while paddling between hidden coves, unique volcanic landscapes, and the rich marine biodiversity of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Geopark.
Enjoy a sustainable, eco-friendly outdoor activity that combines sport, nature, and even a snorkeling stop to discover an underwater paradise teeming with life. No prior experience is required—just the ability to swim (and if not, please let us know for safety reasons). If you’re not comfortable swimming, we recommend joining one of our guided excursions by car instead.

What the Kayak Experience is like
During the excursion you’ll:
- Paddle in double or triple kayaks—perfect for families with kids. (If there are three adults, one takes turns sitting in the middle, as the center seat doesn’t paddle).
- Receive a life vest, paddle, and an introduction on how to handle the kayak, including getting in and out from the water.
- Stop for a swim or go snorkeling, with mask and snorkel included. You’re also welcome to bring your own snorkel gear or fins.
- Observe protected marine life, including Posidonia oceanica—an endemic Mediterranean plant at risk of extinction.
- Admire volcanic cliffs and untouched beaches, remnants of the park’s underwater origins—the largest protected volcanic area in the Iberian Peninsula.
- Enjoy a low-impact, sustainable activity that respects the environment and marine wildlife.
- Depending on the service chosen, guides may take photos during the trip.
Duration: About 2 hours, with the option of 3-hour excursions depending on conditions and the package booked.
Availability: Year-round, though best between April and November. Departures may be canceled due to adverse weather conditions, and routes may be adjusted depending on wind, with alternative options offered.

Excellent tour of the Refugios below the streets of Almeria
This was a fascinating tour of the underground ‘refugios’ that were built and used during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. Emilio gave us fascinating background information as we walked along under the streets of Almeria. He then gave us an additional tour above-ground, showing us yet more historical locations that were connected to that struggle. His commentary (in excellent English) brought to life the pain and fortitude of Almeria’s people during that time.
This was a great tour and we highly recommend Emilio for anyone visiting Almeria!

Beautiful tour
Everything was perfect . The tour was so informative. I have learned many historical things about Almería. Our tour guide Emilio made sure that we see all the historical places and point out the smallest details that makes every site a unique experience. Very friendly atmosphere.

Wonderful experience
Emílio was our guide in Almeria and we loved him! We did the tour at our pace as he was kind, patient and had a wonderful knowledge of the city! We definitely recommend him and his company!
